History of Agriculture System in India | भारतीय किसानों को कैसे बर्बाद किया गया?
Zamindari, Raiyatwari and Mahalwari arrangements are well known words for us. These were separate tax collection systems which were the most important and early steps taken by the British towards building their empire in India. But these systems were not only related to tax collection or grain collection, these systems designed for future of the British Empire in India, but also helped to stabilize it. Before the British rule, there was a balance between both industrial-system and agriculture in India. And then in the 18th century, India was a thriving country despite being an agricultural country. At that time the condition of the Indian farmer was very good even without irrigation, but after the arrival of the British Government, his officers adopted such a policy that in spite of more facilities of irrigation, agricultural life in India was disturbed. And the policy of agriculture of the British was responsible for this changed situation. So in today's video, we will know what kind of policy did the british government make in Indian agriculture? Why was it made? What was the condition of Indian farmers due to these policies and there are some statistics as to how much income was there at that time and how much income was made after the arrival of these policy When the British started trading with India, then the British East India Company used to bring gold, silver, etc. items from England and earn profit by buying clothes, spices etc from India and selling it in European markets. But this trade was unilateral in that way, the East India Company could not sell any England products in India, so they had to bring gold and silver from England to buy Indian products. Due to this trade, a lot of gold / silver started coming to India from England, due to which the East India Company in England began to be criticized a lot and pressure was put on the company to arrange the principal of the business either in India. Buy Indian goods with Indian money. And the British got this opportunity after the Battle of Plassey and Buxar, then the civil company of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa came to the British and solved a huge problem of the British, as the British were now collecting taxes from the Indian farmers. Now they did not have to bring gold and silver from their country to buy Indian goods to sell in the European market, thus buying Indian goods from the money earned in India and selling them in the European market, they started getting double benefits. But now all these expenses fall on the foreheads of Indian farmers. These expenses were not low, so the company officials not only increased the amount of tax to meet these expenses but also paid a lot of attention to the collection of taxes. Certainly, if the British had not imposed such a huge burden of taxes on Indian farmers, they could not have built such a huge empire in India.
