Chabahar Port is a coastal city of Iran, it is a port located along the Gulf of Oman, in Iran's second largest province Sistan and Baluchistan, which is the only port in Iran southeast of Iran. There was an important agreement between India and Iran for the development of this port in the year 2003, but then due to international sanctions on Iran this work came to a halt. This hurdle came almost till 2014, and after that this agreement was moved forward in the first term of Modi government, in fact in 2016, this Chabahar agreement was approved again, This year Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Tehran, Iran, where he signed a tripartite agreement with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Afghanistan. After its signing, India received a 10-year lease for the development of parts of the Chabahar port. Along with this, India also got approval to build the railroad to Zahedan, which is the capital of Sistan and Balochistan province. Which is called Chabahar Rail Link Project.
