How a Bus Conductor Became a Superstar of the South Film Industry | Dr Vivek Bindra
Rajnikanth one of the biggest superstars of the South Indian film industry, was born on December 12, 1950, in Bangalore, Mysore (now Bengaluru, Karnataka), into the family of a police constable. His journey into acting began when he played the role of Eklavya's friend in a school play based on the Mahabharata. Initially, he was more interested in playing villainous roles, which led him to work in theatre. Due to the lack of good earnings from acting, he took up various jobs, including working as a porter and a bus conductor. While working as a bus conductor, he came across an advertisement for the Madras Film Institute in a newspaper. Despite his family's opposition, he managed to join the institute with financial help from a friend. After years of struggle, Rajinikanth made his film debut with the Tamil movie Apoorva Raagangal. Today, he is not just a South Indian superstar but a beloved icon across the nation, famously known as "Thalaiva." The Government of India has honored him with prestigious civilian awards like the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. Happy Birthday to the one and only Thalaiva, Superstar Rajinikanth! #DrVivekBindra #SuperstarRajinikanth #Rajinikanth #Thalaiva #Thalaivar #HappyBirthdayRajinikanth
