Mary Kom: From a Village Dreamer to Boxing Legend | Dr Vivek Bindra #Shorts
Mary Kom, hailing from a small village in Manipur, grew up working in the fields alongside her parents. Despite her father being against boxing due to fears of her spoiling her face, Mary Kom secretly pursued her passion for the sport while managing household responsibilities. Her father discovered her involvement in boxing only after she won a State Championship and it was reported in a newspaper. Though she failed in the 10th grade, Mary did not lose hope. After completing her graduation, she continued boxing to support her family financially. Despite the lack of financial and training facilities, Mary never gave up on her dream. Even after marriage and becoming a mother, she remained dedicated to boxing. She won a Bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and secured seven medals at the Asian Championship. For her remarkable achievements, the Government of India has honored her with prestigious awards, including the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri, and Padma Bhushan.
